Chrysus Spirit Goldens believes that reducing the rate of genetic diseases is an important role of a breeder. We attempt to reduce the number of affected dogs produced but know it is not possible to produce 100% perfectly healthy dogs. We do our best to breed for optimal outcomes, but life is imperfect and science still has a ways to go overcome the many challenges.
All the dogs are OFA and DNA tested. Health screenings such as these are a critical part of the program. Do know that these tests tell us what is going on with our dogs in a moment of time, not the lifetime risk. DNA tests have come a long way, but still too few are available.
